Madrid City Council and Foro Ecofin launch the Madrid Capital FinTech cluster

Foro Ecofin and the Madrid City Councilhave signed an agreement that will launch the Madrid Capital FinTech cluster, a centre for the ideation and promotion of the FinTech sector in the Spanish capital. Vice-Mayor Begoña Villacíswill be the godmother of this birth in a ceremony of adhesion to the Madrid Capital FinTech cluster, which will officially launch it on 19 February, from 12.30 pm, at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid. The event will be attended by Miguel Ángel Redondo, delegate of the Economy, Innovation and Employment Department of the Madrid City Council, and Ángel Niño, head of the Entrepreneurship, Employment and Innovation Department of the Madrid City Council.

José Luis Moreno, Director General of Economics, Madrid City Council, Salvador MolinaThe Spanish government, in the words of the president of the Ecofin Forum, has sealed this alliance at the headquarters of Madrid Investment Attraction (MIA) to set up “a think tank that seeks to promote the FinTech sector in Madrid and from Madrid, in Spain and from Spain to the rest of the world through open innovation, training, networking and co-creation”.

José Luis Moreno adds an invitation to all: “Madrid Capital FinTech will be born on February 19th at the Palacio de Cibeles, so I encourage all the agents of the ecosystem to come and join us: entrepreneurs and startups, employers and regulators, banks and insurance companies, technology and universities, FinTech, InsurTech, PropTech, LegalTech, RegTech, etc.”

Reinventing Banking and Insurance

On the morning of the 19th, InnoDay FinTech 2020will begin with a debate on the conclusions of the ten Reflection Groups set up by the FinTech Circle. About one hundred companies, gathered in ten groups, have been working on visioning the future scenario of Financial Services, generating new models of collaboration between banking and insurance, technological and service entities, FinTech and InsurTech.

Círculo FinTech is a working group of the Ecofin Forum that was established a year and a half ago as a think tank that wants to bring value, vision and purpose to FinTech disruption in collaboration with the financial and technology industry. It brings together some thirty entities focused on leading change, grouping Spanish FinTech companies or those with a presence in Spain, and serves as a point of collaboration among them to promote Investment, Banking and Insurance.

All the information on the InnoDay FinTech 2020 and the Madrid Capital FinTech cluster is now available on a microsite where the programme and the speakers who will be attending are listed. All the information about the event on 19 February will be available there, as well as registration to attend. A membership form is also available for companies wishing to join the cluster.

FinTech Circle continues to grow

Círculo FinTech counts among its partners and associates entities such as: Bnext, N26, October, Creditea, Aplázame, Finizens, Housers, Woonivers, Life.Box, Tesoriza, Zank, Grow.ly, Nationale Nederlanden-SparkLab, Wizink, Multigestión Iberia, EVO Banco, Everis, KPMG and Accenture.

The FinTech Circle is a working group set up by the Ecofin Forum in 2018 that seeks to support the FinTech sector in order to facilitate its growth. Its main strategies are to enhance the visibility, communication and reputation of the ecosystem through meetings such as this InnoDayor collaborative initiatives such as FinTech Observatory that is carried out together with the newspaper Expanding. It also promotes professional training and certification with alliances with other think tanks such as Alastriaor business schools and universities such as the Centre for Entrepreneurship in University of Alcalá de Henares or Computerworld University.
